How CEREC Makes Stunning Crowns
Same Day Crowns with CEREC
The beauty of a CEREC crown is twofold: they are crafted in one visit, and they are more durable than traditional white composite fillings when placed over dental implants. With CEREC technology, the crown is computer-generated using “Computer-assisted design-Computer-assisted manufacture” or CAD-CAM. This process allows the crown to fit your tooth precisely, therefore saving considerable time and cost in acquiring a perfectly colored porcelain match for your teeth.
Advantages of CEREC Crowns
CEREC crowns have been given another less-fancy name called “chairside crowns” which embraces the modern one-day procedure. There is no need for a temporary crown as the entire process can be done in a single appointment. Further advantages include:
Saves your time – CEREC crowns are done in a single sitting.
Saves money – No extra appointment cost or the cost of a temporary crown, which also means less time off work and more opportunities to earn.
Comfort – There are no gooey impression pastes to contend with.
Restores your smile quickly – your natural-looking appearance is back within a few hours.
Prevents decay – With a temporary crown that has a tendency to dislodge, this makes room for decay in the mouth. CEREC can prevent that.
Aesthetically pleasing – CEREC crowns will never look lab fabricated due to natural-looking porcelain contours, the variety of available shades, and additional glaze.
Strength and durability – It is easier to adapt to a CEREC crown than to traditional crowns due to the cementation process and materials used.
While we want to always look at both sides of the same coin, a one-size-fits-all dental treatment may not be the answer for everyone. However, CEREC crowns and the single-visit process far outweigh the time it takes to mold and place a traditional crown over your implant..
Dr. Yazar can determine in the consultation and CEREC evaluation whether you’ve had a deep cavity or previous crown, and in this case, placing a temporary crown might be a better option. This allows him more time to evaluate the tooth prior to porcelain cementation. If there are other factors or issues he needs to address prior to a CEREC procedure, this is discussed in accordance with your dental implant treatment plan.
As with any dental treatment, the CEREC porcelain crown must be tailored to your mouth and your treatment goals.
Why Choose CEREC Porcelain Crowns and Bridges?
CEREC restorations are extremely reliable. It’s not always about the method, but the material used. Our technology makes it possible to produce same-day restorations, and the digital impression we use is far more comfortable for patients than traditional impressions.
Dr. Yazar and his Kenton Dental Care team take great attention to detail when staining and glazing your new porcelain crown. However, If you have a large gap between your teeth, you may be a good candidate for a CEREC porcelain bridge instead of a full dental implant. Either option with CEREC is strongly recommended due to less time involved and more natural-looking smile success. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to learn more.
